Eirmersive joins Research Ireland scoping workshop in Birmingham

Research Ireland and the UK Research and Innovation Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) recently hosted a scoping workshop in Birmingham to explore new opportunities for interdisciplinary bilateral collaboration in creative industries research.

The scoping workshop brought together UK and Irish stakeholders with an interest and experience in research into the creative industries, creative skills and capacity building and creative communities in the UK and Ireland.

It was a privilege for Eirmersive to be part of these important and rich conversations with so many brilliant minds in one room. We’re looking forward to the continuation of the conversation and seeing how combined collaborative programmes across the UK and Ireland can support and elevate the Cultural and Creative Industries in both countries.

Memorable conversation points included:

- How having the performing arts as part of the curricula in schools could support young people's self expression, in turn supporting positive mental health.
- How the future of university paths could be a self designed ladder of micro-credentials.

We shared a strong belief that all undergraduate Business Programmes should include Creativity modules and all Creative Media courses should include Business modules particularly on how to operate successfully as a freelancer, and how to set up your own studio.

We made many wonderful new connections and would like to thank Research Ireland and Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) for the invitation to attend.
