Member Spotlight: Foróige GoDigital at Digital Conference

Foróige’s GoVirtual and GoSonic teams, represented by Tom Rickard and Eoin Dolan attended the Digital Education Conference at SETU Waterford in December 2024. Also showcasing their impactful work in the opening spotlights were Antony and Jessica from Foróige’s GoSafely programme. The innovative Foróige GoDigital offerings were met with great enthusiasm and recognition for their contributions to digital youth engagement.

Tom and Eoin led a workshop on day one and presented a practice paper on day two, highlighting a pioneering collaborative pilot programme in partnership with Music Generation Galway City, Foróige’s GoDigital, GoVirtual, and GoSonic programmes, and Tusla Family Services in Galway. This initiative used virtual reality (VR) to provide innovative youth work and music education. The programme engaged socially isolated young people who face barriers in accessing youth work services.

The conference provided a fantastic platform to explore the evolving role of digital tools in education, addressing both opportunities and challenges. It brought together a diverse mix of educators and international perspectives, all while maintaining a uniquely Irish touch. As attendees Foroige greatly valued the chance to exchange knowledge, insights, and resources with fellow digital practitioners in an informal and collaborative setting.

The Foroige team is already looking forward to the 2025 conference.
